Alan Donohoe is the lead singer of English rock band The Rakes, whose debut album (Capture/Release) reached number 32 in the UK album chart.
He is from London, a graduate (of either Biology or Physics - reports vary) and a vegan. Prior to joining the band, Donohoe worked in a hospital. He is very well read - mentioning in an NME interview his interest in the works of writers such as James Joyce, Stephen Hawking and Richard Dawkins. He writes lyrics on his mobile phone, saving them in a folder named 'My Lyrics'.
He is also well known for his mad dancing moves at his gigs. Many people have compared these to the late Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis, but he claims to not be familiar with Curtis, instead borrowing his moves from Michael Barrymore.
