Alan Lancaster (born Alan Charles Lancaster, 7 February 1949 in Peckham, South London, England[1]) is a bass guitar player and one of the founding members of the English rock band, Status Quo. As well as contributing to songwriting, he was lead vocalist on tracks such as "Backwater", "Bye Bye Johnny", "High Flyer" and "Roadhouse Blues".
Unhappy with the direction which the band was taking in the early 1980s, Lancaster left the group although he did return in 1985 for a one-off performance as the band opened the Live Aid phenomenon. However, Lancaster subsequently took exception to fellow members Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt continuing to perform as Status Quo. The case was settled in 1986 with the new Status Quo line-up given permission to continue.
Lancaster lives in Adelaide, Australia. He has been a member of local
