Andy Gill (musician)

Andy Gill (born January 1, 1956) is a founding member and guitarist for the English rock group Gang of Four, considered among the most influential post-punk bands. Gill is known for his jagged style of playing on albums such as Entertainment! (1979) and Solid Gold (1980) and hit singles such as "At Home He's a Tourist," "Damaged Goods," "Anthrax," and "I Love a Man in Uniform."

Gill also produced much of Gang of Four's output, including their most recent 2005 release, and albums for many other artists including the The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Stranglers, The Futureheads, Michael Hutchence, Killing Joke and most recently, The Young Knives.

In addition, Gill is a regular music critic for the UK's The Independent newspaper. He is married to a journalist, Catherine Mayer, senior editor at Time Magazine. She doesn't write about music or perform, but did supply the sex-worker lyrics to "Unburden" from Gang of Four's 1998 release, Shrinkwrapped.
