Robert Peter Kraushaar (born March 1962, Ilford, Essex) is an English pop music record
producer who specialises in mixing. Kraushaar has mixed and produced
commercially successful songs and albums for numerous British and
international artists. Bob Kraushaar's first industry appointment was
as runner for Trevor Horn. He graduated to
tape-opping at Marcus Studios but moved back to the famous SARM Studios
when they expanded and equipped with SSLs. His first chart success came
with Johnny Hates Jazz and he
was soon known as a mixing specialist having made his mark with ZTT
artists such as Propaganda and Art
of Noise. SARM's associated ZTT label was outputting 12-inch singles
requiring B-sides and alternative versions and these were mixed by
Kraushaar. He went on to work with Paul
McCartney, Erasure and perhaps his most
regular client, the Pet Shop Boys.
His first UK #1 chart credit for production, recording and
mixing was with artists Marc Almond and Gene
Pitney's duet, "Something's
Gotten Hold of My Heart" for Parlaphone in 1989.
As well as mixing an album for Mediaeval
Baebes, Kraushaar has mixed a Liberty X single (featuring Run DMC) and
tracks for Erasure's Andy Bell, The
Cinematics (with Stephen Hague, influential figure in
the synthpop
movement), OneTwo,
a collaboration between Claudia Brücken (formerly of Propaganda)
and Paul
Humphreys (of OMD
& The Listening Pool) formed 2004, and duo Another Language
comprising Brücken and composer and musician Andew Poppy.
As NorthxNWest, a collaboration with Chuck Norman, Kraushaar's
remixes and productions are featured on Dame
Shirley Bassey's album "Get The Party Started" released 25th June 2007.
This album entered the charts at #6 in the UK.
