Gavin Harrison (b. May 28, 1963 in Harrow,
North London) is a member of the British progressive
rock band Porcupine Tree, in which he plays drums and percussion.
Harrison has authored two instructional drum books entitled Rhythmic
Illusions and Rhythmic Perspectives. He also
wrote and produced his own instructional DVDs, Rhythmic Visions and Rhythmic
Horizons, at his home studio.
Gavin Harrison quietly released his solo album Sanity &
Gravity in 1998 to some critical acclaim.

Gavin usually uses one of two kits when on tour with Porcupine
Tree: A SONOR
SQ2 (Maple) in Europe and a SONOR DeLite in Birdseye Azure while in the
USA.
Drums (Sonor):
- Rack Toms (thin maple): 8"x7", 10"x8", 12"x9"
- Floor Toms (medium maple): 14"x12", 16"x14"
- Kick (heavy maple): 22x17
- Snare: At the moment, mostly his 14" x 5" Sonor SQ2 6 ply
Birch snare (with a 12"x5" to his left). He also uses an array of other
snares, including the 14"x6" Sonor Artist Cottonwood, a 12"x5" Sonor
Designer and a 14"x5" Black Steel Sonor snare.
