Gaz Coombes (born Gareth Michael
Coombes on March 8, 1976 in Oxford, United Kingdom) is the vocalist and
guitarist for the band Supergrass. His large sideburns
have become his 'trademark' image.
He first entered the music world aged fourteen as the lead
singer of the band The Jennifers. The band undertook a
nationwide tour before Gaz was fifteen. They released one single in
1992 on Nude
Records before they split. Fellow band member Danny
Goffey, however, made a pact with Gaz that they'd continue to
work together in the future. Less than a year later, along with a
co-worker by the name of Mick Quinn, Supergrass was
formed with Gaz on lead vocals and guitar. When Supergrass were signed
for their first recording contract, Gaz was still under 18 so had to
have his mother sign the contract for him.
