John Goodsall

John Goodsall is a British jazz fusion guitarist most noted for his work with band Brand X. He also started a more rock-oriented side project, Fire Merchants, with Doug Lunn and Chester Thompson, in 1989.

Goodsall began playing guitar at age 7. At 15, he started his first band, Babylon, with members who later joined Joe Cocker's Grease Band. He then toured extensively, first with Arthur Brown, then with Atomic Rooster.

After Brand X's World tour (the last with Phil Collins), Goodsall moved to Los Angeles and worked as a session musician. He worked with artists including Bill Bruford, Peter Gabriel, Billy Idol, Bryan Adams, Toni Basil, Mark Isham, and released two albums with his solo band Fire Merchants, before reforming with Brand X and recording X-communication and Manifest Destiny.
