Her debut album, Shut Up!, was released in
2002 to moderate sales, fueled mostly by a cover version of the hit Madonna
song
Osbourne's second album, Sleeping in the Nothing, debuted at #117 on the Billboard Top 200, selling just under 9,000 copies. The album sees Osbourne make a transition from rock to 80s dance-pop and was co-written and produced by legendary songwriter/former popstar, Linda Perry. The first single from the album, "One Word", peaked at #1 on 3 Billboard dance charts. Osbourne became the first artist in the history of the Billboard charts to top all 3 dance surveys in the same week. However, the album was not without controversy, due to its heavily altered album cover, in which she appeared slimmer. The image, which graced the album cover and most of its promotional material, angered many fans due to her previous reiterations of being happy with her size, and not wanting to change for anyone.
During an interview in late 2005, Osbourne denied reports she
is ending her music career, and is said to be working on a new album.
Osbourne was quoted as saying: "I don't know where the quit rumours
came from - I've just recorded a version of

After getting media attention for her part on The Osbournes, Kelly began speaking out against pop singer Christina Aguilera. On more than several occasions, Kelly had called Christina such things like a 'slut' 'whore' and 'bitch'. On one episode of 'The Osbournes' she even got into a fight with her brother Jack for speaking to Aguilera at a club. While it's still unknown why Kelly developed such a hatred for Christina (it was rumored to be jealousy), things came to a boiling point at the 2003 MTV Europe Awards. Osbourne, attending the event which was being hosted by Aguilera, called her a 'fat cow' on the red carpet when she was being interviewed by MTV. Things went further, and for the first time ever, Aguilera responded to Osbourne. In a pre-taped skit used as the introduction to the program, Aguilera is seen throwing darts at a poster of Kelly Osbourne right before she gets ready to host the event. Osbourne, upset at the skit, later retaliated on stage while presenting an award. Osbourne commented that she feels honored to have Aguilera sink so low after all she has achieved. The audience took Aguilera's side, booed Kelly after she made her comment. Aguilera then responded a few minutes later by calling Osbourne a little girl who can't handle a rebuttal.
