Personal life
McClarnon was engaged to her childhood sweetheart, Tommy Hibbs
until 2001.
She is currently engaged to footballer Lee
Trundle of Bristol City
McClarnon also remains good friends with Atomic Kitten members, Natasha
Hamilton and Jenny Frost.
Even though McClarnon loved to sing as a child, she never
imagined that it would become her career. She wanted to study law after
secondary school, but her music teacher was impressed by her singing
abilities and arranged her to take part in an audition by Andy
McCluskey, who wanted to set up a girl band. In 1997 McClarnon became
one of the original members of Atomic Kitten and she
co-wrote many of the songs during her time in the girl group. She is
the only original member of Atomic Kitten due to the other two leaving;
Heidi
Range was replaced by Natasha
Hamilton by 1998,
and Kerry
Katona was replaced by Jenny Frost in 2001.
Atomic Kitten
McClarnon became a member of the girl-group Atomic Kitten when
it started. Atomic Kitten are an English girl group
from Liverpool
composed of McClarnon, Natasha "Tash" Hamilton,
and Jenny
Frost, who replaced original member Kerry
Katona in January 2001. Atomic Kitten has sold over 8 million
albums and singles around the world. Many of their singles and albums
entered the Top 40 charts worldwide such as Right Now,
Whole
Again, Eternal Flame,
The Tide Is High
and Ladies Night.

McClarnon on the cover of her
first solo single
After Atomic Kitten took a break, McClarnon was signed to EMI records. On February
13, 2006
McClarnon released her first solo single, a cover of Barbra
Streisand's 1980
hit Woman in Love.
The track has been produced by Robin Gibb of the Bee
Gees who also wrote the original version
and whom she accompanied on his 2005 tour.
A video has been shot and released and features McClarnon in a Manhattan
apartment, but it is actually filmed in McClarnon's home town of
Liverpool. It was decided to release the single as a double A-side with
Jackie
Wilson's I Get the Sweetest Feeling.
The single peaked at number 5 in the UK
Singles Chart and at number 33 in World Singles Official Top 100 chart.
and after more than half a year after release it peaked at #16 in the
Spanish charts on October 22, 2006.
On February 25, 2005, McClarnon appeared at Belfast's
biggest gay
venue, The Kremlin, performing both of her solo
tracks and two Atomic Kitten classics ("Whole
Again" and "The Tide Is High").
Other work
In 2005,
she appeared in the ITV
reality
TV show, Celebrity Love Island,
and performed some modelling assignments. She supports Everton FC
and has modelled the clubs kit in the past. McClarnon is an Ambassador
for charity Youth Music.
On March
17, 2007
McClarnon competed for the chance of becoming the UK's Eurovision entry
in the fourth edition of "Making Your Mind Up". She competed with the
self-penned song "Happy" along with acts Big
Brovaz, Brian Harvey (East 17),
Hawkins & Brown, Cyndi Almouzni and Scooch. On the 17
of March, McClarnon didn't make it to the top two and was eliminated
after the first voting in "Making Your Mind Up".
