Mick Quinn (born Michael Milton Quinn, 17
December 1969,
in Oxford)
is the bass
player for English
rock
band, Supergrass.
In his late teens and early twenties Quinn had attempted
unsuccessfully to forge a career as a musician. However, whilst working at a Harvester he befriended new
co-worker Gaz Coombes who, along with
friend Danny Goffey, had recently
left a relatively successful local band The Jennifers. Despite a six
year age gap, Coombes and Quinn had attended the same school (Wheatley
Park) and the two realised they had a common interest in music. Coombes
invited Quinn to come and practice with himself and Goffey, another alumnus of
Wheatley Park.
In February 1993 Quinn officially joined the band on bass
guitar, while Goffey continued on drums and Coombes took both vocals
and guitar,
thus forming Theodore Supergrass. Later re-named Supergrass.
