Neil Codling (born Neil John Codling, on December 5, 1973, in Stratford-upon-Avon, England) is a singer-songwriter and former keyboardist for the popular English band Suede. He is the cousin of their drummer Simon Gilbert. He joined the band in early 1996 to record their 3rd album, Coming Up and co-wrote the album's epic centrepiece, 'The Chemistry Between Us'. For 1999's electronic 'Head Music' album his role become considerably larger within the band, co-writing many of the albums songs including the hit singles 'She's In Fashion' and 'Can't Get Enough'. He even performed lead vocals on several Suede b-sides - 'Digging A Hole', 'Waterloo' and 'Weight Of The World' and later played some rhythm guitar during live shows. He was active in the band until March 23, 2001, when he quit due to having Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. In May, 2005 he played a show featuring his musical project Barry O'Neil which is a duo comprising him and Harriet Cawley. Subsequently he has played keyboards on tour with pop singer Natalie Imbruglia. In April, 2007 it was announced that Neil would play keyboards for two Brett Anderson solo gigs in Germany - the first time the pair would be re-united since Neil left Suede in 2001.
