Tim Gane
is also the name of a drummer in the Canadian group Martha and the Muffins.
Tim Gane (born July 12, 1964, in Barking, England) is the
leader of the rock
band Stereolab.
Gane's musical influences are wide-ranging, and generally lie
outside the rock mainstream: the krautrock of
Neu! and Faust;
the sunshine pop of Brian Wilson, Wendy & Bonnie
and The
Zombies; Brazilian bossa nova composer Antonio
Carlos Jobim; soundtrack composers Ennio
Morricone and Roy
Budd; and classical composers such as Gustav
Holst and Claude Debussy.
He started his musical career as a purveyor of harsh noise
under the alias Unkommuniti and was a key member of McCarthy
from 1985-1990.
