Being an English band, signed to an American record label did not work out well and Def American dropped the band as they felt they were not selling well enough. This did not stop the band being voted the UK's best unsigned act, by the time their live album, Massive Noise Injection, was released in 1993 on the Bronze Company label.
In 1994 the band released their most accomplished work to date, the self-titled Wolfsbane, again on the Bronze Company label. However when Bruce Dickinson quit Iron Maiden, Blaze Bayley got the gig which pretty much put an end to Wolfsbane.
The band had a loyal fan base which they refered to as the HMS (Howling Mad Shitheads) which adourned many of the bands t-shirts.
Some of the members of Wolfsbane also played under the name Stretch, around 1995.
